## Khái niệm về danh từ số ít và số nhiều

- **Số ít (Singular Nouns):** Là danh từ chỉ một người, một vật, hoặc một sự việc duy nhất.
    - Ví dụ: *cat* (một con mèo), *book* (một cuốn sách), *person* (một người).
- **Số nhiều (Plural Nouns):** Là danh từ chỉ từ hai người, vật, hoặc sự việc trở lên.
    - Ví dụ: *cats* (nhiều con mèo), *books* (nhiều cuốn sách), *people* (nhiều người).

## Quy tắc chung khi chuyển từ số ít sang số nhiều

Để chuyển danh từ từ số ít sang số nhiều, thông thường chỉ cần thêm “-s” hoặc “-es” vào cuối từ. Tuy nhiên, có một số quy tắc và ngoại lệ mà người học cần lưu ý:

#### a. Thêm "-s" cho danh từ thông thường:

- Đối với hầu hết các danh từ, chỉ cần thêm “-s” vào cuối từ.
    - Ví dụ: *dog* → *dogs*, *car* → *cars*, *house* → *houses*.

#### b. Thêm "-es" cho danh từ kết thúc bằng "ch", "sh", "s", "x", hoặc "z":

- Danh từ kết thúc bằng các âm này thường thêm “-es” để tạo thành số nhiều.
    - Ví dụ: *church* → *churches*, *brush* → *brushes*, *box* → *boxes*.

#### c. Danh từ kết thúc bằng "y":

- Nếu trước "y" là một phụ âm, đổi "y" thành "i" và thêm “-es”.
    - Ví dụ: *baby* → *babies*, *city* → *cities*.
- Nếu trước "y" là một nguyên âm, chỉ cần thêm “-s”.
    - Ví dụ: *key* → *keys*, *day* → *days*.

#### d. Danh từ kết thúc bằng "f" hoặc "fe":

- Nhiều danh từ có “f” hoặc “fe” chuyển thành “-ves” khi ở dạng số nhiều.
    - Ví dụ: *wife* → *wives*, *leaf* → *leaves*.
- Tuy nhiên, cũng có những danh từ chỉ cần thêm “-s”.
    - Ví dụ: *roof* → *roofs*, *chief* → *chiefs*.

#### e. Danh từ bất quy tắc:

- Có một số danh từ không tuân theo các quy tắc trên mà có cách viết riêng ở dạng số nhiều.
    - Ví dụ: *man* → *men*, *woman* → *women*, *child* → *children*, *tooth* → *teeth*, *foot* → *feet*.

## Các trường hợp đặc biệt

- **Danh từ không thay đổi ở số nhiều:**
    - Một số danh từ giữ nguyên hình thức ở cả dạng số ít và số nhiều.

- **Danh từ luôn ở dạng số nhiều:**
