1. During – Dùng để chỉ khoảng thời gian

“During” được sử dụng khi muốn nói về một khoảng thời gian cụ thể, nhưng thường đi kèm với một danh từ. Nó diễn tả một hành động hoặc sự kiện xảy ra trong suốt khoảng thời gian đó.

Cấu trúc:

During + danh từ (chỉ khoảng thời gian hoặc sự kiện)
“during” không thể đi với một mệnh đề (một cụm từ chứa chủ ngữ và động từ).

Ví dụ:

During the meeting, we discussed many important issues.
(During được dùng trước danh từ “the meeting” để chỉ khoảng thời gian cuộc họp.)
I met a lot of new people during my trip to Japan.
(During đi kèm với “my trip” để chỉ hành trình chuyến đi.)

2. While – Dùng để chỉ hành động hoặc sự việc diễn ra đồng thời

“While” được dùng để chỉ hai hành động hoặc sự kiện xảy ra cùng lúc. Tuy nhiên, khác với “during”, “while” đi kèm với một mệnh đề (cụm từ chứa chủ ngữ và động từ).

Cấu trúc:

While + mệnh đề (chủ ngữ + động từ)
“while” không đi với danh từ như “during”, mà cần một mệnh đề để diễn tả hành động hoặc trạng thái.

Ví dụ:

While I was cooking, my friend was watching TV.
(While đi kèm với mệnh đề “I was cooking” để diễn tả hành động đang diễn ra trong cùng thời gian.)
He listens to music while he works.
(Hai hành động “listens to music” và “works” xảy ra đồng thời.)
