Causative verbs là động từ chỉ sự nhờ vả, yêu cầu hoặc sai khiến ai đó làm việc gì. Các động từ thông dụng nhất trong dạng này là make, have, get, let, và help.

Cấu trúc và cách dùng

1. Make (bắt, ép buộc)
   • Cấu trúc: S + make + O + V (bare-infinitive)
   • Ví dụ:
     • She makes me clean my room. (Cô ấy bắt tôi dọn phòng.)
2. Have (nhờ, yêu cầu)
   • Cấu trúc: S + have + O + V (bare-infinitive)
   • Ví dụ:
     • I had him fix my car. (Tôi nhờ anh ấy sửa xe cho tôi.)
   • Cấu trúc bị động: S + have + O + V3/V-ed
   • Ví dụ:
     • I had my car fixed. (Tôi đã nhờ sửa xe của mình.)
3. Get (nhờ, yêu cầu, thuyết phục)
   • Cấu trúc: S + get + O + to V (infinitive)
   • Ví dụ:
     • I got him to fix my car. (Tôi thuyết phục anh ấy sửa xe cho tôi.)
   • Cấu trúc bị động: S + get + O + V3/V-ed
   • Ví dụ:
     • I got my car fixed. (Tôi đã nhờ sửa xe của mình.)
4. Let (để, cho phép)
   • Cấu trúc: S + let + O + V (bare-infinitive)
   • Ví dụ:
     • She let me use her phone. (Cô ấy cho tôi dùng điện thoại của cô ấy.)
5. Help (giúp đỡ)
   • Cấu trúc: S + help + O + (to) V (infinitive) (có thể dùng cả với to V và V dạng nguyên mẫu)
   • Ví dụ:
     • She helped me (to) carry the boxes. (Cô ấy giúp tôi mang các hộp.)
