Hướng dẫn lý thuyết về Gerunds và Infinitives

1. Định nghĩa:

• Gerund (Danh động từ): Là hình thức của động từ có thêm đuôi -ing và có chức năng như một danh từ.
  • Ví dụ: Swimming is fun. (Bơi lội rất vui.)
• Infinitive (Động từ nguyên mẫu): Là hình thức động từ nguyên mẫu có to đứng trước.
  • Ví dụ: To swim is fun. (Bơi lội rất vui.)

2. Cách sử dụng Gerunds:

• Làm chủ ngữ trong câu:
  • Ví dụ: Running is good for health. (Chạy bộ tốt cho sức khỏe.)
• Làm bổ ngữ cho động từ to be:
  • Ví dụ: My favorite hobby is reading. (Sở thích yêu thích của tôi là đọc sách.)
• Sau một số động từ nhất định:
  • Ví dụ: I enjoy dancing. (Tôi thích nhảy múa.)
  • Một số động từ phổ biến: enjoy, avoid, consider, suggest, finish, keep, mind, quit, miss.
• Sau giới từ:
  • Ví dụ: She is good at singing. (Cô ấy hát rất hay.)
• Trong các cụm từ cố định:
  • Ví dụ: It’s no use crying over spilled milk. (Khóc lóc về những gì đã xảy ra là vô ích.)

3. Cách sử dụng Infinitives:

• Làm chủ ngữ trong câu:
  • Ví dụ: To learn English is important. (Học tiếng Anh là quan trọng.)
• Làm bổ ngữ cho động từ to be:
  • Ví dụ: Her dream is to travel around the world. (Giấc mơ của cô ấy là du lịch vòng quanh thế giới.)
• Sau một số động từ nhất định:
  • Ví dụ: I decided to leave early. (Tôi quyết định rời đi sớm.)
  • Một số động từ phổ biến: agree, decide, hope, plan, promise, seem, want, expect.
• Sau tính từ:
  • Ví dụ: She is happy to help. (Cô ấy vui vẻ giúp đỡ.)
• Mục đích của hành động:
  • Ví dụ: I went to the store to buy some milk. (Tôi đi đến cửa hàng để mua sữa.)

4. Các động từ có thể dùng cả Gerunds và Infinitives nhưng nghĩa khác nhau:

• Remember:
  • Remember doing something: Nhớ đã làm gì (hành động đã xảy ra).
    • Ví dụ: I remember locking the door. (Tôi nhớ đã khóa cửa rồi.)
  • Remember to do something: Nhớ làm gì (hành động cần làm).
    • Ví dụ: Remember to lock the door. (Nhớ khóa cửa.)
• Stop:
  • Stop doing something: Dừng việc đang làm.
    • Ví dụ: He stopped smoking. (Anh ấy đã dừng việc hút thuốc.)
  • Stop to do something: Dừng lại để làm việc gì khác.
    • Ví dụ: He stopped to smoke. (Anh ấy dừng lại để hút thuốc.)
• Try:
  • Try doing something: Thử làm việc gì đó.
    • Ví dụ: Try opening the window. (Thử mở cửa sổ xem sao.)
  • Try to do something: Cố gắng làm việc gì đó.
    • Ví dụ: Try to open the window. (Cố gắng mở cửa sổ.)

5. Các động từ có thể dùng cả Gerunds và Infinitives mà không thay đổi nghĩa:

• Begin, start, continue, like, love, hate:
  • Ví dụ: I like reading books. / I like to read books. (Tôi thích đọc sách.)
