SECTION 3 – Students Discussing a Biology Presentation

Liam: Hey Sarah, are you ready to work on the biology presentation?
Sarah: Yes, I watched that documentary on animal communication – it was really helpful.
Liam: That’s our topic then! Not too difficult, and lots of fun examples.
Sarah: We can use the documentary as our main source, but let’s check a few websites too.

Liam: Sounds good. Can you do the introduction?
Sarah: Sure. I’ll write that and design the slides.
Liam: Great – I’ll do the conclusion and help with editing.

Sarah: The teacher said it should be creative, so maybe we can show short clips?
Liam: Good idea. But the classroom projector doesn’t work.
Sarah: Oh no, we’ll need to find another room.

Liam: We should include at least one real-life example, like dolphins or bees.
Sarah: I’ll look for images online, and we can use some charts too.
Liam: Let’s practise in the library, it’s quiet there.
Sarah: Okay. Our deadline is next Friday, so we have time.

SECTION 4 – Lecture on Coffee Production

Lecturer: Let’s talk about how coffee is grown and produced.

Coffee grows best in tropical climates, with rich soil and high rainfall.
The top producers are in South America, such as Brazil and Colombia.

Coffee comes from the fruit of the plant, known as the coffee cherry. Inside each fruit are two beans.

After harvesting, the beans are cleaned and then dried in the sun. Once dry, they are stored in a cool and dry place.

The roasting process changes the flavour: light roasting gives a milder taste, while darker roasting adds bitterness.

To make instant coffee, water is removed from brewed coffee, leaving a powder.

Coffee should be stored away from air, light and moisture, to keep it fresh.

One challenge is that coffee farming can lead to forest loss if not done sustainably.

Finally, coffee is traded globally on the Commodities Market, and prices can change every day.
