One of the primary reasons for the rise in people working multiple jobs is the increasing cost of living. In many cities, the price of basic necessities such as housing, food, and healthcare has skyrocketed, outpacing the average wage growth. As a result, many individuals find that their primary job no longer provides enough income to cover their expenses. Therefore, taking on an additional job becomes a viable solution to bridge the financial gap.

Another contributing factor is the prevalence of unstable or part-time employment. With the gig economy‘s expansion, more people are engaged in freelance or temporary work, which often lacks the stability and benefits of full-time employment. These individuals may need to juggle several part-time jobs to ensure a steady income stream and meet their financial obligations.

To effectively research this trend, a multi-faceted approach is necessary. Surveys and interviews could be conducted to gather qualitative data on why individuals choose to work multiple jobs and how they manage the challenges associated with it. Additionally, statistical analysis of labor market trends, income levels, and cost of living data could provide quantitative insights into the underlying causes.
