Caller: Hi, I’m looking for an apartment to rent.

Lecturer: Today we’re talking about wind energy, a form of renewable energy.

It’s considered clean and sustainable, as it produces no pollution.

Most wind turbines are built in rural areas, where there’s more space.
Their blades are usually made of fibreglass, which is light and strong.

A single wind farm can have up to 100 turbines.

To generate power, wind speeds need to reach at least 15 km/h.

One issue is that turbines can be dangerous to birds, especially during migration.

Offshore wind farms are more expensive to install and maintain.

Also, wind energy depends heavily on local weather, which can be unpredictable.

It’s often used together with solar power to ensure a stable energy supply.
