Mai's Weekend Market
Mai is twenty-four years old and she lives in a small town near the sea. From Monday to Friday, she works in a bank. At the weekend, she has a different job. Every Saturday, she sells fruit at the town market with her uncle.
On Saturday, Mai gets up at five o'clock. She has a quick breakfast, usually bread and milk. Then she drives her uncle's old truck to the farm. They put boxes of mangoes, bananas and oranges into the truck. The market opens at seven, and the first customers arrive early.
Mai likes the market because she meets a lot of people. Some customers come every week, and she knows their names. Old Mr Hoang always buys six bananas and tells her a funny story. Children often ask for free pieces of mango.
The market closes at noon. After that, Mai and her uncle have lunch at a small noodle shop. In the afternoon, Mai is tired, so she sleeps for an hour. In the evening, she counts the money and writes it in a notebook.
