Receptionist: Good morning, Riverside Sports Centre. How can I help you?
Anna: Hi. I’m calling about the swimming course for adults. Is it still possible to join?
Receptionist: Yes, there are still a few places left. I can take your details now, if you like.
Anna: Great, thank you.
Receptionist: Could I have your name, please?
Anna: Yes, it’s Anna Harlow. That’s H-A-R-L-O-W.
Receptionist: Thanks, Anna. And what’s your address?
Anna: It’s 27 Fenwick Road. Fenwick is spelled F-E-N-W-I-C-K.
Receptionist: 27 Fenwick Road. Is that near the train station?
Anna: Yes, it’s just behind the station.
Receptionist: OK. Now, this course is for adults who can already swim a little. How far can you swim at the moment?
Anna: Well, I learned as a child, but I haven’t been swimming for years. I think I can do about 50 metres without stopping. Definitely not 100!
Receptionist: 50 metres is fine. That’s the right level for this group.
Anna: Good. Which days are the classes on?
Receptionist: We have two groups. One meets on Monday and the other on Wednesday. I’m afraid the Monday group is already full.
Anna: Oh, that’s a shame. Well, Wednesday is fine for me.
Receptionist: Lovely. The Wednesday class starts at quarter past seven in the evening, so 7.15, and it finishes at eight o’clock.
Anna: That’s perfect. I finish work at six, so I’ll have time to get there. How long is the course?
Receptionist: It runs for 10 weeks, and it starts on the fifth of next month.
Anna: And how much does it cost?
Receptionist: For members of the centre it’s 85 pounds for the whole course. For non-members it’s 95.
Anna: I joined the gym here last year, so I’m a member.
Receptionist: Then it’s 85. You can pay on the first evening, by card or in cash.
Anna: Do I need to bring anything with me?
Receptionist: You’ll need a swimming cap, because everyone has to wear one in our pool. And you should bring goggles, as there’s quite a lot of chlorine in the water. You don’t need a towel — we provide those.
Anna: OK, a cap and goggles. Oh, there’s one more thing. I sometimes have a problem with my knee. Will that be a problem?
Receptionist: Not at all. Swimming is often good for that. Just tell the teacher on the first evening, and she’ll give you some easier exercises if you need them.
Anna: Thanks, I will.
Receptionist: And one last question, just for our records. How did you hear about the course? Was it on our website?
Anna: No, actually I saw a poster at the supermarket on the high street.
Receptionist: That’s good to know. Right, Anna, you’re now booked on the Wednesday course. We’ll send you an email to confirm everything.
Anna: Thank you very much. Goodbye.
