Receptionist: Good morning, Riverside Leisure Centre, Hannah speaking. How can I help?
Daniel: Hi. I'd like to become a member, please. I've just moved to the area and I'm hoping to start some classes.
Receptionist: Lovely. I can take your details over the phone now and set everything up for you. Can I have your name first?
Daniel: Yes, it's Daniel Fenwick.
Receptionist: Could you spell your surname for me?
Daniel: Sure. F-E-N-W-I-C-K.
Receptionist: F-E-N-W-I-C-K. Thank you. And what's your address?
Daniel: It's 14 Ashcombe Road. That's A-S-H-C-O-M-B-E.
Receptionist: Got it, 14 Ashcombe Road. And the postcode?
Daniel: RT8 2LD.
Receptionist: Was that RT8 2LB, B for bravo?
Daniel: No, D for delta. R-T-8, 2-L-D.
Receptionist: Sorry about that. RT8 2LD. Now, we have two types of membership. Full membership lets you come in at any time, seven days a week. The other option is off-peak, which covers weekdays before four and after eight in the evening, plus all day at weekends.
Daniel: Hmm. I was going to go for full membership, but I work until six most days, so I'd only be coming in late in the evening or at weekends anyway.
Receptionist: In that case, off-peak would probably suit you better. It's quite a bit cheaper, too.
Daniel: Then let's put me down for off-peak.
Receptionist: Fine. And which activities are you interested in?
Daniel: Well, I saw on your website that you run yoga in the evenings.
Receptionist: We do, but I'm afraid the evening yoga groups are all full until the summer. I can add you to the waiting list if you like.
Daniel: Oh, that's a shame. What else is there after eight?
Receptionist: There's an evening badminton class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there's plenty of space in it at the moment.
Daniel: I played badminton at school, so that could be fun. Yes, evening badminton classes, please.
Receptionist: Great. When would you like your membership to begin?
Daniel: Could I start on the 24th of February?
Receptionist: Ah, the sports hall is closed for repairs that week, I'm afraid. It reopens on the 3rd of March.
Daniel: There's no point paying before I can play, so let's make it the 3rd of March.
Receptionist: Good idea. And about the price: full membership is £45 a month, but off-peak is £32 a month.
Daniel: £32. That's fine. Is there a joining fee as well?
Receptionist: Normally there's a £20 joining fee, but we're not charging it this month. The monthly fee is paid by direct debit, and you can fill in the form for that at the desk, so there's no need to bring your bank details.
Daniel: Oh good.
Receptionist: Can I ask how you heard about us? We like to keep a record.
Daniel: Well, a colleague of mine mentioned the centre a while ago, but to be honest I'd forgotten about it. What actually made me call was the leaflet that came through my door last week.
Receptionist: The leaflet. That's good to know. Now, when you come in for your first visit, you'll need to bring something with you.
Daniel: A photo for the card?
Receptionist: No, we take your photo at the desk for your membership card. What we do need is proof of address, so a recent bill or a letter from your bank with your name and new address on it.
Daniel: OK, I'll bring my gas bill.
Receptionist: Perfect. I'll email you the class timetable this afternoon, so you can see when everything runs. Your receipt will be printed when you pay on your first visit.
Daniel: And will I need a permit for the car park?
Receptionist: No, parking is free for members and there's no permit. Just park anywhere in the main car park.
Daniel: Great. Thanks very much for your help.
Receptionist: You're welcome, Daniel. See you in March.
